Construction is reported to be one of the most dangerous professions, and in Knox County alone this year there have been several construction-related deaths and highly publicized accidents. Reaching this safety milestone is rare. Bill Hamilton, Senior Vice President of Willis - Construction Division, said, "JOSEPH Construction Company has reached a safety milestone unequaled in my 25 year career as a construction insurance broker." The company's safety record puts JOSEPH in the top 1% of safest general contractors in the United States. Says Hamilton, "Construction is the most dangerous industry in the U.S. today, and JOSEPH Construction's commitment has proven beyond any doubt they can beat the odds." The construction industry represents 20% of work-related accidents and deaths each year.

JOSEPH President Gerry Eastman said, "Our number one goal is to make sure our people go home to their families each night. We applaud our great team of employees who have supported and fulfilled our high standards for safety."

Safety

Everyone knows that construction is one of the most dangerous occupations. Accidents happen when you don't plan for their prevention.

What many don't know is that there is a method of benchmarking a company's safety performance.

The industry-wide standard for measuring a contractor's safety record is the Experience Modification Ratio (EMR). An EMR of less than 1.00 means losses/accident rates are smaller and less frequent than average. An EMR of 1.00 and above means that a company is average or above average.

JOSEPH Construction Company has an Experience Modification Ratio of .74, testifying to the effectiveness of our safety programs. We have worked 10 years without a lost time accident! This EMR puts us in the safest 1% of contractors in the country. JOSEPH has won numerous awards for our outstanding safety record, including the prestious Willis Company "Eagle Award for Safety" and recognition from Associated Builders and Contractors for our Safety Program.

For an owner, a low EMR translates to cost savings and an overall reassurance of our commitment to the well-being of our employees and clients. JOSEPH's workman's comp insurance costs are 50% of typical workman's comp insurance costs. And since our inception no JOSEPH clients have ever been involved in a workman's comp claim due to JOSEPH work.

On-line Project Tracking

In our fast-paced world, quick communication and access to information anywhere and anytime has become a necessity when doing business. Therefore, in addition to traditional paper methods of informing Owners of their project's progress, we can provide our clients with a project specific website to view the photographs of the site and construction progress, jobsite meeting minutes, schedule, contact lists, weather data and other items as required.

This Online Project Tracking system provides secure access to project data, and we can establish varying levels of admittance to areas of the website. The site is designed to be interactive — all team members can also post information to the site, depending on their level of security.
